Routine Dental Cleanings in River Edge
We recommend seeing your dentist at least every six months to sharpen your smile. Some of our patients, however, are more prone to dental decay, so we may recommend more frequent visits. Depending on your specific needs, we’ll let you know when you should see us next with easy reminders.
When you visit us for a dental cleaning, we take extra care to ensure that your dental hygiene is up to par. We use only the best tools and technology to provide a thorough and comfortable experience. We understand, though, if you experience anxiety when you visit the dentist. That’s why we offer a drug-free anxiety solution called NuCalm.
Regular Dental Exams at Marlen Elite Dental Wellness
Every time you visit Marlen Elite Dental Wellness for a dental cleaning, we will also perform a dental exam. During your dental exam, we will identify decay in your teeth and your gums. To examine your teeth, we use specific tools to determine the strength of your enamel on each tooth. This allows us to understand if you have any decay. When we look at your gums, on the other hand, we look for signs of inflammation. Inflammation alerts your dental team about the possible bacterial overgrowth.
In addition to exams during each visit, our team will also take x-rays at least once a year. These x-rays will give us a deeper understanding of your smile and its movement. With an x-ray, we’ll see any decay we missed upon visual examination. Additionally, the x-ray will show us the alignment and functionality of your smile, in case you need to make any changes.
Keeping Your Smile Healthy At Home
Unfortunately, visiting your dentist every six months isn’t enough to keep your smile healthy and beautiful. You also have to keep a good oral hygiene routine at home. This includes brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing your teeth daily.
Next, you’ll want to take extra care of your teeth when you eat any sugary or chewy foods. These types of food stick to your teeth, especially in small cracks and crevices. When sugary and glutenous foods become stuck in your smile, those areas will decay more quickly.
Finally, you should make sure that you’re brushing and flossing correctly. For example, brushing for two minutes at a time kills more bacteria than a quick 30-second activity. When you floss, make sure that you’re flossing both sides of each tooth by sliding your floss up and down the sides of your teeth.
If you have a good oral hygiene routine yet your smile doesn’t stay perfect, we’re happy to share oral hygiene tips. When you visit us for a regular dental cleaning, ask us about keeping your smile healthy at home.
